Merchant User Manual
VS Easy Product Bundles – Merchant User Manual
Welcome. This guide explains how to install, set up, and use the app from start to finish. It is written for store owners who are not technical.
1. App Overview
What This App Does
VS Easy Product Bundles helps you sell product bundles on your Shopify store to increase average order value (AOV). You can create two main types of bundles:
Fixed Bundle
A pre-set combination of products sold together (e.g. "Starter Kit" with shampoo + conditioner + comb).
- You choose which products and variants are included and set quantities.
- The app publishes a Shopify native bundled product to your catalog.
- Customers buy it like a normal product on your storefront — no special theme block required.
- At checkout, the app expands the bundle into component products with correct pricing.
Mix & Match Bundle
A flexible bundle where customers pick items from categories you define (e.g. "Pick 4 chocolates from our selection").
- You create customer step groups (categories) with min/max picks.
- Customers choose a box size (e.g. Box of 4, Box of 6) with tiered pricing.
- Optional add-on products let shoppers add extras or free gifts.
- Shoppers use the Mix & match + add-ons theme block on the product page to build their bundle.
What You Manage in the App
| Page | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Home | Setup checklist, quick links, recent bundles, plan and billing alerts |
| Bundles | Create, edit, publish, and archive all bundles |
| Analytics | Revenue, orders, and units attributed to bundles |
| Subscription | Plans, billing, usage limits, discount codes |
| Support | Contact form and FAQ |
Common Use Cases
- Gift boxes and curated sets (beauty, food, wellness)
- "Build your own" product collections with rules
- Starter kits and sample packs (fixed bundles)
- Meal kits, snack boxes, and subscription-style combos
- Upsell bundles to increase cart value
2. Installation & First-Time Setup
Step 1: Install the App
- From the Shopify App Store, open VS Easy Product Bundles and click Install (or Add app).
- Review and approve the permissions the app needs (products, orders, themes, cart transform, and related catalog access).
- You land inside the app on Home. The Free plan is activated automatically — no billing approval needed to start.
Step 2: Understand Your Plan (Free Starts on Install)
On install, the app activates the Free plan automatically:
| Plan | Price | Bundle limit | Revenue limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Up to 2 bundles | First $1,000 in bundle revenue |
| Growth | $5.99/month | Up to 15 bundles | Unlimited bundle revenue |
| Unlimited | $9.99/month | Unlimited bundles | Unlimited bundle revenue |
You can create and publish bundles immediately on the Free plan. When you hit a limit or need more capacity, go to Subscription and upgrade to Growth or Unlimited (approve the charge in Shopify).
There is no separate free trial period — the Free plan itself lets you try the app at no cost.
Tip: You can enter a discount code on the Subscription page before upgrading if you have one.
Step 3: Complete the Setup Checklist
On Home, the setup checklist tracks four milestones:
| Step | What completes it |
|---|---|
| Online Store 2.0 theme | Your live theme supports app blocks (JSON templates) |
| Catalog ready | At least one product exists in your Shopify store |
| First bundle created | You have saved at least one bundle in the app |
| First bundle sale | At least one bundle order is recorded in analytics |
Follow the call-to-action buttons on each step. Mix & match bundles need an OS 2.0 theme for the storefront block.
3. Dashboard Overview

4. Feature-Wise Usage (Step-by-Step)
4.1 Create a Fixed Bundle

- Enter an internal name (for your team) and a customer-facing title.
- Use the product picker to add products. For each product:
- Toggle which variants are included
- Set quantity per product
- Review the component summary and pre-save checklist.
- Click Save — the full editor opens.
- In the editor, review the launch checklist in the sidebar.
- Click Publish to store when ready.
After publish: The bundle handle, type, and linked product are locked. You can still edit components until you archive.
Storefront: Fixed bundles appear as normal product pages. No theme block is required.
4.2 Create a Mix & Match Bundle
- Go to Bundles → Create bundle → choose Mix & Match.
- Enter internal name and store title.
- Add customer step groups (categories):
- Group name (e.g. "Chocolates", "Snacks")
- Min and max picks per group
- Add products via the picker
- Optionally use bestseller suggestions to auto-fill a new group from your recent top sellers.
- Optionally add add-on products with free-gift toggle or custom prices.
- Click Save — the full editor opens for quantity tiers and detailed pricing.
In the editor, configure these sections:
Basics
Internal name and customer-facing title.
Customer steps & products
Named groups with min/max picks. Drag to reorder products. A structure overview shows limits (up to 30 products and 2,048 variant lines per bundle).
Quantity choices
Turn on tiered sizes (e.g. Box of 4, Box of 6). Set labels and quantities. Drag to reorder tiers.
Pricing
Choose one mode:
- Fixed total price — set a price per tier
- Dynamic price — calculated from selected components, with optional bundle-wide or per-tier percentage discounts
Extra products (add-ons)
Optional products customers can add. Supports free-gift mode, custom unit prices, and per-tier min/max add-on limits. Requires quantity choices to be enabled.
- Click Publish to store when the launch checklist is complete.
4.3 Add the Storefront Theme Block (Mix & Match)
Mix & match bundles need the theme block on your product template.
- From Home → Storefront setup or the bundle editor Checkout & theme sidebar, click Open product template.
- In the Theme Editor, add the Mix & match + add-ons app block to your product template.
- Optionally set which bundle to display (defaults to most recently published).
- Customize layout, labels, colors, and mobile behaviour in the block settings.
- Save the theme.
Important: After you change bundle configuration in the app, republish the bundle so storefront data updates.
Theme block options (high level)
| Area | What you can customize |
|---|---|
| Layout | Standard (grid + kit panel) or Stacked; products per row (desktop/mobile) |
| Behaviour | Redirect to cart after add; bundle handle override |
| Copy | Headings, button labels, quantity text, sold-out text, discount suffix |
| Design | Colors, typography, motion, card hover, custom CSS |
4.4 Turn On Checkout Grouping
Checkout grouping ensures bundle cart lines expand to the correct component products with accurate pricing.
- Open the bundle in the editor.
- In the Checkout & theme sidebar, click Turn on checkout grouping.
- The app registers a Shopify Cart Transform function. No further action needed.
Customer experience: At checkout, bundle lines merge or expand with the correct discount applied. Bundle title and attribution data travel with the order.
4.5 Manage Existing Bundles
From the Bundles list, open any bundle:
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Publish to store / Update store | Pushes changes to Shopify catalog and storefront data |
| Save draft | Saves without going live |
| Duplicate | Creates a draft copy |
| Archive | Hides bundle and deactivates storefront offer |
| Unarchive | Restores to draft for editing |
| Delete permanently | Removes app data and linked Shopify product (irreversible) |
| View in Shopify admin | Opens the linked catalog product |
4.6 Bundle Analytics
- Go to Analytics.
- Choose a date range (last 7, 30, 90 days, all time, or custom).
- Filter by bundle type or specific bundles.
- Review summary metrics and charts.
- Click Refresh to reload data.
Metrics explained:
- Bundle revenue — sales attributed to bundles
- Bundle orders / units — count of orders and items
- Average bundle order value — bundle revenue ÷ bundle orders
- Order total sales — full order value for orders that contained bundles
4.7 Subscription & Plans
| Plan | Monthly price | Max bundles | Bundle revenue cap | Support |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 2 | $1,000 lifetime | |
| Growth | $5.99 | 15 | Unlimited | |
| Unlimited | $9.99 | Unlimited | Unlimited | Priority |
Free plan features include: Fixed and mix & match bundles, add-ons and free gifts, dynamic pricing and quantity tiers, theme block, cart transform, and full analytics.
To upgrade, go to Subscription, select Growth or Unlimited, and approve the recurring charge in Shopify.
Note: Downgrading from a paid plan back to Free in-app is blocked — contact support if you need to return to the Free plan.
5. How Bundles Work on Storefront & Checkout
5.1 Mix & Match — Customer Journey
- Customer opens the bundle product page with the theme block.
- They see category tabs (if multiple groups) and a product grid.
- They select variants and add items to kit slots in the side or bottom panel.
- They choose a bundle size tier (pills or dropdown).
- Optionally they proceed to add-ons (with min/max rules).
- They click Add to cart.
Bundle data loads from your shop metafield — no separate API setup needed on the storefront.
5.2 Fixed Bundle — Customer Journey
- Customer opens the bundle product page (standard Shopify product page).
- They select variant if applicable and add to cart.
- At checkout, cart transform handles component expansion and pricing.
5.3 What Happens at Checkout
- Mix & match: Cart lines include bundle configuration. Cart transform expands or merges lines with discounts from your pricing rules.
- Fixed: Native bundle product lines expand to component variants.
- Order attribution records which bundle was sold for analytics.
6. Managing & Updating Bundles
After Publishing
- Title sync: If you edit the product title in Shopify Admin, the app syncs the bundle title automatically.
- Structure changes: Edit components, pricing, and tiers in the app, then click Update store (republish).
- Theme changes: Customize the block in Theme Editor anytime. Republish bundles after configuration changes.
Catalog Health
If your Shopify product falls out of sync:
- Mix & match: A catalog drift banner appears with Fix store product.
- Fixed: Use Recreate store product or repair tools in the editor sidebar.
Warning: Recreate deletes and rebuilds the linked Shopify product. Product URLs may change if the handle changes.
Limits to Know
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Products per bundle | 30 distinct products |
| Variant lines per bundle | 2,048 |
| Parent option names (fixed, native) | 3 max across components (Shopify limit) |
| New bundle types in wizard | Fixed and Mix & Match only |
Legacy bundle types (Build your own, Volume) may appear if they exist from older data but cannot be newly created.
7. Common Issues & Tips
"Bundle pages are locked."
- Your subscription may be inactive or billing approval is pending for a paid plan upgrade. Go to Subscription to check your plan status.
- On the Free plan, bundle creation is available until you reach the 2-bundle or $1,000 revenue limit — then upgrade to continue.
"I don't see the theme block option."
- You need an Online Store 2.0 theme (JSON templates). Classic themes do not support app blocks.
"My mix & match bundle looks wrong on the storefront."
- Did you add the Mix & match + add-ons block in Theme Editor?
- Did you publish the bundle after saving changes?
- Try republishing and refreshing the product page.
"Checkout shows wrong items or prices."
- Is checkout grouping turned on in the bundle editor?
- Republish the bundle after pricing changes.
- Test in a fresh checkout (not an old tab).
"Analytics is empty."
- Have you had orders with bundle line data since install?
- Order webhooks require
read_ordersscope and may need Protected Customer Data approval from Shopify. - Contact support with your case reference if sales exist but analytics does not update.
"I edited the product in Shopify Admin and something broke."
- Bundle structure must be edited in the app, not Shopify Admin.
- Title edits in Shopify Admin are synced automatically.
- If variants drift, use Fix store product or Recreate store product.
"Bestseller suggestions are empty."
- Your store may have no recent paid orders, or order read permission is not approved yet.
"Can I pause the app without uninstalling?"
- Archive individual bundles to hide them. To cancel subscription, contact support (in-app cancel is not exposed in the current UI).
"What happens when I uninstall?"
- Shop-specific app data (bundles, attribution records) is deleted per Shopify requirements.
- Remove or unpublish bundle products in Shopify if needed before uninstall.
